Black Beast of Exmoor
MonsterQuest Video
July 03, 2008
The Beast of Exmoor is a big cat with sightings first reported in the 1970s. The Beast became notorious in 1983, when a South Molton farmer claimed to have lost over 100 sheep in the space of three months, all of them apparently killed by violent throat injuries. It is reported as being between 4 feet (1.2 m) and 8 feet (2.4 m) from nose to tail. Descriptions of its coloration range from black to tan or dark gray.

It's highly unlikely to be a new breed of big cat, or rather a cross-breed between two kinds of big cat - for a start, not being the same species they would instinctively attack one another as a competitor rather than think to mate. It just wouldn't happen; unless the fact that they were raised by humans instead of in the wild changed their behaviour. Also, a cross-breed would be infertile (like a mule) so a population couldn't be established - more likely to just be one creature that caused all the bother then the story got embellished and elaborated from there. So, if someone released a 'pet' panther or similar into the wild, then there's no need to assume it's a monster...

what I ment to say to built a trap is to dig the hole 8feet below

lol,, it's a black leopard. two escaped/freed leopards were breeding, and a black leopard is a leopard with no pigment, go do some research ppl. the thing even moves like a leopard. like a white tiger isn't some mutated tiger,, it's a genetic anomaly. it happens, even with ppl, called albino. They are exceptionally smart, and know how to hide. btw, one leopard can easily extinguish a farmers entire livestock, it happens all the time in south africa.

I say that the beast of exmoor is a creature that lurks in the lands the only way to capture it is by building a huge trap the first thing to do is to dig a huge hole about 7 feet long and we put inside the hole with some thorns and covered it with sticks and leaves and we tied a sheep to a wooden fence but when the beast of exmoor saw the sheep it will quickly run toreds the sheep but when the beast run toreds the sheep POW! the beast fell in to the hole and then we locked it with IRON BARS and now rain of is finally over in exmoor.

It may be some sort of sabertoothed lepord or a black panther or maby just something entirly diferent like a one headed Cerberus.
Added by Brisinger bird on October 02, 2008
Poeple usually say their is no such thing as monsters or beasts. Sure that`s true but maybe a scientist could `ve acidentally fused two diferent animals this explanation may sound like a movie but it is 100% possible that this kinda thing could happen.

sabertooth do not belong to the same species as the tigers or wild cats present today. this is spoof
Added by Kit Seraph on September 30, 2008
It's probably just a stray panther that either escaped or was set free and has breed. They said they don't know how many were set free by owners when that law passed so maybe a small percentage surived. As for being black and not being a leopard, maybe it's like that black bobcat that was caught in flordia or that black deer that was shot some where in oregon I think? Not sure. But anything is possible with animals.
Added by zzz on September 19, 2008
maybe it's a pumapard - a cross between a puma and a leopard. very rare though.

you all say it couldent possibly be a monster well i have one question for you all. What is the aspect of a monster? you all invision a monster as something strange and scary but in all reality whatever is doing this is nothing more than an animal acting on instinct there is the possiblity of it being the black beast of exmoor and if it is then we should just accept "the impossible" oh and for you who say let me see the two cross breed you should exsamine the law of species. the law is like this... dogs can breed with other dogs but dogs cant breed with cats. so knowing this isnt it possible for a leopard to breed with a sebertooth. but then the question arises on how could they have done that because of the time periods. meaning sabertooths were from the ice age and leopards are just a form of evolution and adaptation. i dont know but hey in only 14 so how could i possibly be right? -Jessica Sanders

i read about this there should not be any more big cats near that area.some people say the deads are by dogs. the thing is thought to be bigger than cats we know about today. i think there are still cats there and they are bigger and better then we know. they had to grow that way to live and not be killed out there. the cats are said to be able to think like us if not better.

it was popular among the jetset crowd of the mid 60s to own large cats some got or were let lose like large snakes in the everglades in FL if some were the us cougar they are able to breed with any of the large cats of the world hence the crossbreeds and the reason the don't bight skulls the couger takes the throught it would still be a geneticly sound kill black is only a mutation in the jaguar and not anather breed of cat this mutation could be carried by the ofspring and a small population could be sustained in the backcountry of England
Added by Annie on September 14, 2008
It looks like a panther
Added by Anna on September 12, 2008
I think that its a cross between a minotaur and a saber tooth.
Added by xxx on September 11, 2008
i think it's probably some kind of leopard. a jaguar maybe, although from what i researched on jaguars normally break their victims' skulls, not bite their throats.
Added by HumbleMarty on September 10, 2008
I know I'm no expert but maybe it could've been a humanized big cat, wolf or even a humanized bear. I've heard of some people actually trying to keep a tiger cub as an exotic pet until it was too big to handle. A beast that size would probably have to have a black hole for a stomach, to eat 100 big wooly sheep within a month.
Added by ethelwolf on September 09, 2008
...? it might just be a loose black panther or jagauar or something.. because iv seen jaguars before.. and the beast looks a hell of alot like a black panther or jaguar.
Added by ym on September 07, 2008
u call urselves scientists. people let jaguars, lepards, lions & other cats run loose right? well animals r not like humans. they only go by instinct. its possible that a jaguar & another type of cat like a lion or someting bread. which is why its not like any other cat. its a new bread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Added by jose o. on September 04, 2008
the pictures simply show what seem to be jaguars, leopards, and panthers. maybe some wandered into the areas in search of food. nothing out of the ordinary though.
Added by scorp on September 02, 2008
i have strong beliefs on the aspect of impossible, however i do doubt it is a monster, but i still hold doubts it's a leopard. but i do think something is out there.
Added by Dazzle on August 31, 2008
