Yatcha Poot
Djinni of Kashmiri Origin
March 18, 2008

Literally, Yatch means evil. Aptly named the Yatcha Poot is notorious for doing mischievous acts or acts of ominous import. In fact the Yatch is supposed to be a perpetrator of the eerie echoes that fill the dark and deserted village settlements at night.

Mothers scare their naughty children with a reference to Yatch, to help in enforcing discipline on them. But the Yatch qualifies to be called a local djinni for completely hilarious reasons...

The Yatch is reputed for being dandy and well attired, with a traditional Kashmiri cap covering his head and all the attitude of a celebrity ghost. He is resolute and immensely powerful. Nonetheless he has a weakness -- dread of misplacing his magical-cap and the fear of becoming bald.

The Yatch admires his style more than anything else in this world. In fact it is only his feeling of self obsession that costs him dear, for the humans are always on prowl to steal his cap and enslave him.

Once his cap is stolen, the Yatch has no option but to give in to every whim of his master, lest he succumbs to the disgrace of being unimposing. But the question is that if a Yatch can raze the mountains to ground and turn the gravel into jewels, why can’t he snatch back the cap from his master made of flesh and bones? The answer is quite amusing...

A person able to take the Kashmiri cap has to hide it under a sieve if the Yatch is to be prevented from getting it back. Surprisingly enough, the djinni who can accomplish tasks of magical magnitude, fears even going near a household sieve not to speak of stealing it, just due to the apprehension of becoming bald. Interestingly enough, the Yatch is equally superstitious himself, and labors under a misconception that touching the sieve would scratch and scar his scalp, lessening his manly charm forever.

I agree with Werewolf Alpha. sounds like some guy whose full of himself. There is also a female version of this legend but it originates in Ireland. Sounds like some one who is strong physically, but weak mentally.

Thanks very much for carrying the Yatch Poot. He is a real representative of our Kashmiri culture and we are all besotted with him.Though i wonder for whom does he primp up so much?has he ever fallen in love or are there any female djinnis around as well?Nonetheless,May he become more famous and may his tribe increase!!!
