Archaeologists have unearthed three false doors that served as portals for communicating with the dead among other ancient burial remains in a vast Egyptian graveyard.
The sandstone doors are inscribed with religious texts and the names and titles of those buried in the tombs they once belonged to. These doors were a place where to have interaction between the living and the dead. A doorway for the soul to go in and out of the afterworld
According to a report in National Geographic News, the discoveries date back to the "First Intermediate Period" - a turbulent period in Egypt's history from 2160 to 2055 B.C.
