Merlin NBC TV Series A must watch show!

NBC -- "Merlin" is a new drama series that updates the story of the infamous sorcerer of Arthurian legend for a new audience. The mythical city of Camelot, in a time before history began; a fantastical realm of legendary beasts and mysterious people; a dangerous world in which magic has been banned by the ruthless tyrant, Uther Pendragon.
When Merlin, a young man gifted with extraordinary magical powers, arrives in the kingdom, he quickly makes enemies including the heir to Uther's crown, the headstrong Prince Arthur. But guided by Uther's wise physician Gaius, Merlin is soon using his talents not just to survive but also to unlock Camelot's mystical secrets. As he does so he discovers that his destiny and that of the kingdom's young leader in waiting, Arthur, are inextricably linked.
While I was completely skeptical because of how far off it was from any other Merlin legend, as I watched, I felt the show was coming from a very interesting angle and enjoyed the freshness. I am 7 shows in and absolutely LOVE this show. The creatures that make appearances include an all knowing dragon that is willingly imprisoned under the castle, a very angry gryphon and a heart wrenchingly beautiful unicorn.

This amazing new TV mini-series from Spiderman director, Sam Raimi, is based off the "New York Times" - bestselling Sword of Truth series books by Terry Goodkind. If the TV series can even remotely touch the genius of the books, then it is well worth watching!
The Sword of Truth books have by far been my favorite series of all time! I am so excited to see what they can do to bring it alive and yet a little apprehensive since we all know it's hard to beat the feeling of the book. Since they are filming in New Zealand, we can certainly expect the scenery to be breathtaking!
In a mythical land, one man, Richard Cypher, discovers his true destiny as he, a mysterious young woman, a wise old wizard and a magical sword are all that stand between the evil tyrant Darken Rahl and his quest for total domination.

Chris Scalf is an amazing digital artist I happened upon at YouTube. I wanted to share one of his killer time-lapse paintings, and let me tell you, I had a heck of a time just picking one.
The detail of this dragon and his conjurer captured me...
the use of light and shadow...
the electric charge from the wizards hands to the folds of his hooded robe...
the glow of the fiery pit the dragon emerges from...
the hint of veins from the transparency of the dragon wings...
I loved watching every second as it all unfold before me.
Certainly one of the best artists I have stumbled upon in quite awhile.

The Trail of Terror has been scaring Minnesota residents and providing a memorable experience for those ready to be scared and have fun for the past fourteen years.
Trench through the ghoul-infested trails on the Haunted Hayride; calm your quivering bones by a warm bonfire or give in to your most horrific phobias and fears in the Halls of Horror.
Trail of Terror is considered the largest Halloween event in the mid-west with more than 2.5 miles of scares and horror. The Halls of Horror and the indoor heated maze also make the Trail of Terror the largest indoor Halloween event.

Fort William Historical Park Great Experience in Thunder Bay, Ontario

Fort William is a historical site with more than 42 outfitted era buildings which allows the visitor to visit just as it was in 1815.
This activity was one of the things I had set up for our family vacation. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but thought it sounded cool. I could tell my husband was lukewarm about the idea, but my oldest son was game.
Boy - What a Find!!! We absolutely loved the fort and all its reenactors. After a beautiful hike through a forested area, the fort appears along with a Native Ojibwa and Métis encampment right outside its walls. We were warmly welcomed with the offer of tasting delicious aboriginal foods (yummy blueberries and longrice prepared like popcorn).
Besides discovering all the buildings of the fort and their utilitarian uses, there were animals, a canoe builder, kids games, baking bread, blacksmith, tinsmith, churning butter, a wagon ride, tavern, the tools of the doctor and apothecary. Everyone was going about their daily 1815 business.
Exciting dramas would happen around us during our exploration. We watched as the fort bourgeois took his leave with much fan fare on a canoe to head into civilization to negotiate good prices on fur and goods while bagpipes blared, laborers danced and canons shot. Later on in the day we enjoyed the antics and confrontation of an overworked contracted laborer who had proceeded to get drunk, disorderly and ultimately arrested by the fort constable.
A great time was had by all. Before we knew it, we had been there all day and the fort was closing!
We missed out on paddling in a voyageur canoe on the Kaministiquia River. Hopefully someday we can return.
